Bayamón

Founded in 1772, Bayamón was named after a Cacique Indian. Bayamón is also called “La Ciudad del Chicharrón” (Fried Pork Skin City) because of the production and distribution of chicharrón, a favorite Puerto Rican snack, which started in this town.
The city’s historic zone includes a plaza, church and mall. Today, with all its famous artists, museums and theaters, this is one of the most progressive cities in Puerto Rico.
