Founded in 1823, Hatillo is a major agricultural area and produces one-third of the milk consumed in Puerto Rico. The town is best known for the annual Festival de las Máscaras and the Paso Fino horses. The mask festival has been held annually since 1823.

Celebrated since the Spaniards founded Hatillo in 1823. It represents the biblical story of King Herod ordering the death of all infant boys, attempting to kill Baby Jesus. Men with colorful masks and costumes represent the soldiers, who run or ride through the town from early morning looking for the children. Food, crafts and music.

Paseo del Carmen.
This fishing event along the shore for parents and children has been held since 1992. There are drawings, prizes, T-shirts and several categories which includes visitors and handicapped. Totally free.
